Shaw’s Distribution Center in Wells, a generous donor to food rescue, invited Food Rescue to their 25th anniversary open house on September 10th. The truck was brought in and a table with info was set up .This was a day for all Shaw's employees to enjoy and both Jodi and her warehouse helper, Mike, attended. There were games and prizes for the kids, gift bags, tours of the warehouse, and free food for all. Jodi had an opportunity to renew acquaintances with several volunteers from the past as well as recruiting some future volunteers.
Shaw’s volunteers have promised to do a holiday Turkey drive and more repair work on the coolers at the Jagger Mill warehouse. Also, many volunteers have offered to come to help make up pallets for the pantry distributions as well. Food Rescue has always been grateful to Shaws for all they do.
On September 16th, from 10 am – 2 pm. Jodi took the Food Rescue message to the University of New England in Biddeford. All the students were invited to attend. Through the many different clubs, students there have volunteered their time at the warehouse making up orders, sorting food, conducted food drives, and helping with paperwork though out the coming year. Volunteers are a key component of Food Rescue and UNE has been a huge help.
Jodi attended the Business Expo in Saco on September 24th where over 200 Biddeford /Saco area businesses belonging to the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce promoted their businesses. A small food drive was conducted and many key contacts were made. It was a great day among many friends of Food Rescue. Jodi has plans to attend the Expo at Massabesic High School on October 23rd as well.
On Wednesday October 7th Jodi attended an Open House at the Biddeford Free Clinic where she set up a display table explaining all about York County Food Rescue. This allowed her to let local families know what is available to them through Food Rescue.
