YCFR and the WIC Program

The staff and volunteers at YCFR assisted YCCA with a food drive recently.  A picture of the food drive follows this article.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children - better known as the WIC Program - serves to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, & children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care.

George Winston Concert

George Winston recently appeared at Jonathan's in Ogunquit.  His concert was a smashing success and a sell out.  Fifty percent of the profit from sales of his recordings, cds and dvds, were donated to the YCFR program.  Thank you to George and his crew for their generosity and for a very special evening.

York County Community College Food Drive

     The students and staff at YCCC have been contributing to a food drive at the college for the past few weeks.  This drive will continue until the end of the spring semester.  Thanks to all of you for your contributions to our mission.

Worthy Wednesday a Success!

The YCFR "Worthy Wednesday" at the Kennebunkport Inn was a great success. 
One Dock donated 15% of the evening proceeds to our mission.

The YCFR community is pleased to announce that we will be the beneficiaries of a "Worthy Wednesday" at the Kennebunkport Inn in Dock Square, Kennebunkport. 
Our Wednesday evening will be on January 26th! 
 
Mark that date on your calendar!
 
What a great way to celebrate the New Year and support the mission of the York County Food Rescue Program.
 
You will be able to order sumptous dinners or fabulous small plates from 6-9 p.m. and the Kennebunkport Inn will donate 15% of the evening's revenue to the YCFR program.
 
Reservations may be made in the dining room or in the lovely bar area.

Pratt Whitney Food Drive

Did you know that 13.9% of families in the Portland/Biddeford area cannot afford regular meals?

The North Berwick Women's Council will hold a Holiday Food Drive from December 1st to the 20th.

You can help make a difference by donating non-perishable goods.  Bring your donation to the Women's Council and place it in the collection box under the T.V. next to the cafeteria.

 On Saturday, December 4, 2010 from Noon until 3 p.m., the Nonantum Resort on Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport hosted a luncheon in conjunction with Kennebunkport's Prelude festivities.  They paired this event with the York County Food Rescue and had a non-perishable food drive.
